ST PETER — Scott Novotny, the comedian referred to as the new Robin Williams, is returning to Gustavus Adolphus College, his alma mater, as part of Homecoming weekend festivities.

Novotny — also an actor, writer and teacher — will bring his “laugh out loud” act filled with family friendly characters, jokes, dancing, props, improvisation and physical comedy to the Björling Recital Hall stage Saturday.

Novotny taught for a short time before becoming a full-time stand-up comedian. In a career that has spanned 25 years, Novotny has written for “Saturday Night Live,” Dudley Rigg’s Brave New Workshop and the daily comic “Strange Brew.”

He has headlined at The Comedy Club, Funny Bones, Knuckleheads and Funny Business and acted in numerous stage productions throughout the U.S. In Minnesota, he founded, owned and operated the state’s first full-time comedy club, The Comedy Cabaret.
